Volunteer

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

Serve With Us

Church is a family, and families take care of the house together.
At The Kingman Church of the Nazarene, volunteering is one of the simplest ways to live out Love. Live. Lead. You do not need a special title or a lot of extra time. You just need a willing heart and a desire to help people meet Jesus in a clean, cared-for, welcoming place.
Whether you like working with your hands, teaching kids, or quietly getting rooms ready before Sunday, there is a place for you here.

Serve in our church

Use your unique gifts to help build the Kingdom.

At KNAZ, we understand the church cannot function without volunteers. Sunday morning happens because someone unlocked the doors, greeted a family, taught a class, ran the sound, prayed, and stayed to stack the chairs. That is not extra. That is the church.
We are grateful for every person who offers a gift. Some serve up front. Most serve where few people notice. Both matter. If God has put a tug on your heart to help, that is worth paying attention to. Fill out the Volunteer form, pick the areas where you would like to offer your talent, and someone will get back to you soon.

Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer?
We would love your help. Fill out the Volunteer form and pick the areas where you would like to offer your talent. Someone from the team will get back to you soon.
You do not need a title or years of experience to serve. Many of our teams need people who can greet, set up, teach, sing, pray, help with kids, work behind the scenes, or simply show up consistently. Tell us what you enjoy and what you are willing to try. We will match you with a place that fits.
After you submit the form, expect a short follow-up so we can answer any questions, share next steps, and connect you with the right leader.
How do I volunteer with music?
If you sing, play an instrument, or would like to help with sound or lyrics, we would love to hear from you. Fill out the Volunteer form and choose Music / Worship. Tell us what you do — vocals, piano, guitar, another instrument, sound, or presentation — and someone from the worship team will get back to you soon. You do not have to be a professional. If you are new to sound or lyrics, we can teach you. Choir and special music are also welcome places to start if you would rather not be on the weekly team right away.
How much time does it take?
It depends on the role. Greeting or hospitality may be one Sunday a month. Kids ministry is usually the service hour, after screening. Worship includes rehearsal as well as Sunday morning. Outreach and prayer vary with the need. We will go over the schedule before you say yes, so you know what you are committing to.
What if I do not know where I fit?
That is all right. Fill out the Volunteer form and say you have a willing heart. Tell us a little about what you enjoy, what you are good at, and how much time you can give. Someone will get back to you and help you find a place. You do not need a title or years of experience to be useful here.
How do I volunteer with kids?
Our first priority is a safe, welcoming place where children can learn about God, have fun, and grow. Fill out the Volunteer form and choose Kids. Tell us your preferred age group and whether you would rather teach, help, greet, or work behind the scenes. Someone from the children’s team will get back to you soon.
How do I volunteer with students?
Fill out the Volunteer form and choose Youth. Someone from the student team will get back to you soon. This ministry is built on relationships, so volunteers are selected and trained with care. Because you will be with minors, a background check is required before you serve. Submitting the form starts the conversation. It does not place you on the team until screening is complete and a leader has connected with you.
Do I have to be a member?
No. You do not have to be a member to serve. Regular attenders are welcome in greeting, hospitality, setup, prayer, and outreach. Teaching, worship leadership, and any role with children or students require that you are known to the church and have completed the screening we ask for. If you are new, start with the form. We will help you find a fitting first step.

Can I serve behind the scenes?
Yes. Many of the most needed jobs are the ones few people notice. Greeting, hospitality, setup, prayer, and outreach all keep the church going. Fill out the Volunteer form, pick the areas that fit, and someone will get back to you soon. If your gift is not listed, tell us anyway. We would rather hear what you can offer than miss a place for you.
Who needs a background check?
Anyone serving with children or students completes a background check before serving. That protects the kids, the families, and you. Other roles do not automatically require one. If a role does, we will tell you before you are placed. Screening is a normal part of saying yes, not a sign of suspicion.

Sunday Ready Team (inside cleaning)

Help Us Get Ready for Sunday
Every Sunday morning, people walk through our doors looking for hope, worship, and a place to belong. A clean, cared-for church helps them feel welcome from the first step inside.
We need volunteers to help prepare the building before Sunday services. This is practical, behind-the-scenes ministry that blesses every person who gathers.
What this can look like:
  • Vacuuming, dusting, and tidying classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and the sanctuary
  • Setting rooms back in order after midweek use
  • Restocking supplies and making sure the building feels fresh and ready
  • A short shift on Saturday or early Sunday—whatever fits your week
You do not have to clean the whole church. Even one room, one hour, or one Saturday a month makes a real difference.
If you like seeing a job finished and knowing Sunday is ready, this team is for you.

Sunday school teachers

Teach and Love Our Kids
Our kids ministry is a safe, joyful place where children learn about Jesus, make friends, and grow in faith. That only happens when caring adults show up week after week.
We need Sunday school teachers and classroom helpers who will love kids well, teach God’s Word in simple ways, and help families feel at home.
You might serve by:
  • Teaching a Sunday school class or helping a lead teacher
  • Greeting kids, helping with activities, crafts, or story time
  • Supporting check-in and creating a calm, welcoming classroom
  • Stepping in as a substitute when a regular teacher needs a Sunday off
You do not have to be a professional teacher. You need a love for children, a willingness to learn the lesson, and a heart to point kids to Jesus.
Because this ministry serves children, volunteers complete a simple screening and background check. We will walk you through that. Our goal is the same as our Kids page: every child known, safe, and glad they came.

Grounds & Maintenance

Help care for the building and property—weeding, light repairs, painting, cleanup, and seasonal projects. Serve with your hands and keep our Kingman Nazarene looking loved.

Other Ways to Serve

Not sure where you fit? That is all right. We also need help with hospitality, greeting, worship and media, prayer, outreach, events, and one-time projects.
Tell us what you enjoy and the time you can give. We will help you find a next step that fits your season of life.
